Acupuncture FAQs

Common questions about acupuncture at Parker Natural Medicine. If you don’t see your question here, give us a call at (720) 282-9702 and we’ll be glad to help.

Acupuncture is a practice from traditional Chinese medicine in which very thin, sterile, single-use needles are placed at specific points on the body to ease tension, support circulation, and encourage the body’s own healing response.

Acupuncture needles are about as thin as a human hair, and most patients feel little or nothing when they are placed. You may notice a dull ache, warmth, or heaviness at the point, which is normal. Many people find the session deeply relaxing.

Patients commonly come in for tension headaches and migraine relief, lower back and neck pain, menstrual cramps, digestive issues, mental health support, chemotherapy-induced nausea, postoperative pain, labor and post-labor pain, and tennis elbow. Dr. Gilchrist will discuss what to expect for your specific situation.

It depends on the concern and how long you have had it. Recent problems often respond within a few visits, while long-standing ones are usually treated over a course of sessions. Dr. Gilchrist will recommend a course of care at your visit.

Acupuncture visits are 30 minutes for $65, or 55 minutes for $90. Follow-up fertility acupuncture visits are $75. Sessions may include cupping and targeted therapeutic massage.
